Ayers Ryal Side Elementary School

Together We Soar!

News From Mrs. Charochak

The incredible spirit of the Ayers Community continues to amaze me.  There is no limit to the generosity and support that we generate when it comes to community service.  From the efforts to raise money for our disabled service men and women to the incredible participation of all the members of the Ayers Bears in the recent Polar Plunge to help benefit the homeless in Beverly, to the outpouring of support for one of our families deeply impacted by the recent fire in Beverly, the school community has come together to show just how much Ayers CARES!

Bring on the Polar Plunge and the incredible AYERS BEARS!  Cold water and freezing temperatures was no match for you!!  In the annual Polar Plunge, Ayers once again stepped up and came through for those less fortunate!  What an event it was.  In the end, the Ayers Bears won the trophy as the elementary school that raised the most money for the Beverly Affordable Housing Coalition.  Our plungers raised over $8,000.00!!  In addition, this year Ayers was awarded the Spirit Award as the school with the highest percentage of participation.  As a result of these efforts, both trophies will reside in our lobby for the next year!

If all of this wasn’t enough, we have spent the past four weeks enjoying the spectacular talents of our students.   The Ayers Idol Semifinals culminated in the Ayers Idol Showcase on Friday night.  What talent our students have!  From tumbling to karate, from tap to hip hop, from singers to pianists, American Idol has nothing on us!  The Finalist performance was held on Thursday, February 16th and we crowned our newest “Idol”.  It was certainly a difficult decision.  The four final acts included Uniqua Edwards, Alexia Brickman and Dylan Webster, Sophia Bisegna and Olivia Smith, and the 2010 Ayers Idol winner, Meghan Cotraro.  Congratulations to all of you!

I can only imagine what excitement awaits us in the coming month.  Ahead we have our 4th Annual Science Fair, our School Wide Reading Festival, grade level Family Back nights, and rumor has it, an amazing performance to culminate our Reading Festival!  Stay tuned for more and don’t forget our motto:

 Together We Soar!
